As I am sure you are aware, there has been a rise in the consciousness of what we eat. It has been stated many times to us that eating a lot of fruits and vegetables is good for us, and that eating a lot of fatty foods will give us heart attacks and make us obese.

How true is that though? How much attention should we really be paying to what we eat?

Of course, I am a fan of being as healthy as I can be. I like to keep active, and work out at least four times a week. I try not to overload on junk food, but try is the key word.

Like many of us, when I was growing up I had my fair share of junk food, like most of the kids I knew. I turned out fine, but was I one of the lucky ones?

Unfortunately some of my childhood friends are already suffering health problems, due, in large part, to the diets they had while growing up. Two of my friends are morbidly obese, and one of them came from two thin parents, so I doubt this is a genetic thing. Another friend of mine now has bowel problems.

At least two of these friends had absolutely horrid diets while they were growing up. I’m talking about daily lunch at the deli, sugary soft drinks, many sweets, and at any time of the day or night. Also one of those friends smoked, so I am sure that didn’t help his current health.

Worse yet is that many of the teenagers I see now are following in their footsteps. While I acknowledge that some people from my generation had unhealthy lifestyles growing up, it was no where near as common as it is today.

Yes, eating junk food does affect us negatively. It is not that you cannot eat it, but that if you must eat it, do so in moderation.

The gap between these young kids of the ‘Jamie Oliver’ generation and my own generation is never so obvious as when I look at our common eating habits. However, providing that these kids do not pass their bad habits on to their own kids, and the new heath consciousness keeps up, I am sure this won’t be a long term problem.

With the dawn of a new decade, it’s really exciting to imagine the fashion possibilities that might be brought along with it. I don’t think anyone ten years ago could have predicted all the current trends we enjoy.

New styles come on the scene every few years. For this reason, concentrating mainly on the latest developments in fashion is the most practical approach.

I’d like to take a look at what’s in vogue for the 2010 season. I’m going to focus on women’s shoes because I’m passionate about them and I know more about them than anything else. They’re definitely what I like writing about the most. They’re what I like wearing the most, too!

My cupboard’s just bulging with shoes. Here are a few of my current favorites.

5. Get a partner: There is nothing better than to have someone along with you in the journey to going further. Even better, if you can start training with somebody that is already at the level you want to be at, you will get there faster.

Training at the outer edge of your abilities is the best way to get the body you so desperately want and need. So make sure you take action on this advice sooner rather than later. Because later usually never comes!

So without further ado, here is my critique of wide-grip curls for reducing fat arms:

1. Overview: This variation of the regular barbell curls puts more stress on the inside part of the biceps. The part that makes contact with your arm pit. When done correctly, it’s an excellent exercise for the biceps. You just have to be careful with the stress it can put on your wrists.

2. Technical jump start: Stand erect with your core contracted. Grab a barbell with a wide underhand grip. Raise the weight in a controlled manner. Then slowly lower it in a controlled manner.

3. Frequent mistakes: Jerking the weight back once it’s close to the top. Allowing the elbows to move around. Flexing and extending the forearms when contracting the muscle. Not keeping the chest up and shoulders back. And using momentum to get the barbell up.

4. Bottom line: This is an excellent exercise for toning the upper arms. Every women wishing to get sexy arms should make this exercise a staple. The only thing you have to watch out for is the wrist strain. So experiment with different grips and angles if it becomes an issue.

Losing arm fat with the right exercises shouldn’t be like finding a needle in a haystack. Once you ignore all the marketing hype and stick to what has been proven by research, you’ll get outstanding results.
