How to Stop Snacking

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

One of the biggest challenges when you’re losing weight is quitting snacking. These small portions of great tasting things might seem small but in the end they can fail your hopes and plans of getting in shape you always dreamed of.

Stopping snacking in workplace is hard, especially if you work in the environment where everything is against your diet plan – office for example.

Polite male colleagues usually bring something tasty in a shape of chocolate and it’s hard to stay away from trying few, and then few again. The best solution is to get them fired but they are nice guys pleasing their colleagues.

Another obstacle between me and my weight loss success is the vending machine in the office. This evil creature makes me buy bars, crisps and sugar rich drinks even if I don’t want to; leaving me in a cutting on snacking battle as a loser.

I recently found out quite disturbing fact that the average person spends $45 on snacks every month and I am pretty sure that I spend three times more if not more than that. My friend who lost her weight gave me few tips on fighting the snacking to which I’ll try to stick for a while:

First advice is to remain calm if something goes wrong. You probably have noticed that when you’re stressed you want to eat something and usually it’s something unhealthy. Proper planning at work should help reduce these kinds of stress situations.

Secondly, stock of fruits. Fruits make excellent unhealthy snack replacement and are completely harmless and can be eaten anytime and in any amount.

Three. Keeping myself busy and interested should keep me away from snacking as well. This might be effective because on extremely busy days I even forget about my lunch which is great in terms of unconsumed calories.

Four. Get a natural appetite suppressant. Fruits are great but if I need something stronger to fight my snacking my friend suggested Hoodia appetite suppressants which are natural. Hey, and I can spend my snacking money on something that will help me to lose weight.

My goal is to stop snacking at work and to lose weight and I hope that these tips will help me and maybe you also.
