Will Minoxidil Use Cure Your Baldness?

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Those who know these things tell us that over 50 percent of men will experience some form of thinning hair during their lifetime. Most of these cases of baldness in men are caused by is what is known as male pattern baldness, the scientific name being androgenetic alopecia. The good news is that there are 2 products which the FDA has approved as baldness treatments for men and one of these products is called minoxidil. But does this mean that minoxidil use will reverse your baldness problem?

There’s dozens if not hundreds of baldness cures on the Internet. Apart from minoxidil and finasteride none of them are approved by the FDA for use as a baldness treatment, and minoxidil is the only product approved by the FDA for use as a balding treatment by women.

Therefore it makes sense that these are the only products which can be sufficiently scientifically proven to reverse thinning hair in men. And minoxidil is the only product which has sufficient scientific proof that it will reverse thinning hair in women.

If any of the other hundreds of so-called miracle cures for baldness on the internet had sufficient scientific evidence to convince the FDA that they were a successful baldness treatment you can be absolutely sure that the company that manufactured them would apply to the FDA immediately for approval. Getting a product approved as a baldness treatment will make millions, so if they were able to successfully achieve it they would apply for approval today.

But whilst minoxidil is the only FDA approved treatment of thinning hair in both men and women, you do need to understand a few things about minoxidil use before you start using minoxidil to treat your baldness problem.

Obviously minoxidil works to reverse thinning hair or the FDA would not have approved it. But just because it is proven to work doesn’t mean that it works for everybody. Just as there are cancer treatments which are proven to work to treat cancer, they do not work for everybody, and it is not realistic to expect minoxidil to be any different. Do not expect that just because it works for others that it will also work for you, though of course there is a good chance that it will.

Secondly you must understand that if you start minoxidil use to treat a hair loss problem you must commit to a minimum amount of time before you make any judgment about whether it is working for you. 2 months is not sufficient time to use a product before deciding whether it is working. You should commit to a minimum of 6 months and preferably 12 months before you make any decisions about whether minoxidil use is reversing your thinning hair.

And the third thing that you need to understand before beginning using minoxidil for a hair loss treatment is that even if you get an outstanding result you need to continue using the product to maintain that result. Dicontinuing minoxidil use, even amongst those with demonstrated reversal of hair loss, will result in the thinning hair returning.

Clearly using minoxidil works to reverse thinning hair in men and women but this does not automatically mean that it will work for you. You need to have realistic expectations and need to be prepared to commit to a sufficient trial before making any decisions on how minoxidil is working to you. There is now a new product available which combines minoxidil with a range of essential hair nutrients increases the likelihood that it will work for you, however this also is not guaranteed to work for everybody.

If, after understanding what using minoxidil means, you’re interested in finding out which product combines minoxidil with essential hair nutrients then visit my website.

How Do You Find The Best Baldness Cures On The Internet?

Friday, November 6th, 2009

There are tens of millions or possibly even hundreds of millions of men in the US searching for a baldness cure. It is estimated that around 50 percent of men will suffer some form of balding and most of them will hate it. For this reason baldness cures, particularly on the Internet, are big business. But how do you go about finding a genuine cure for baldness?

Balding cures are not cheap and there are hundreds of millions of dollars or more at stake. With money like that to be made there will always be many products available to buy however that doesn’t mean that these baldness cures work or even that they are safe for you to use.

The Internet is pretty much unregulated and it’s very easy to put up a website selling cures for baldness. There is no requirement that anyone who does this demonstrate that their hair loss treatment does anything to reverse hair loss or even that it is safe to use. You have to beware of any cures for baldness on the net.

Buying baldness cures on the Internet can be an easy way to get ripped off. There’s a good chance they won’t grow more hair on your head and they may well be harmful to your health and wallet. So should you just forget about finding a good cure for hair loss?

Not at all. We have an organization whose job it is to regulate these things. The FDA has approved two products to use as men’s hair loss treatments. Both these products have been demonstrated to the satisfaction of the FDA to work to counter male balding, including in cases of male pattern baldness, because that causes over 90 percent of men’s balding.

It is fair to assume that where the FDA has approved a product as a men’s hair loss treatment that there is sufficient evidence, in the form of proper scientific studies, that these products work to reverse hair loss. However it is also true that these products will not work as a cure for baldness for every man suffering from male pattern balding. It is too much to expect any product to work for everybody.

The FDA has approved minoxidil and finasteride as men’s hair loss treatments. Finasteride is marketed as Propecia and is not approved for use in cases of women’s hair loss because it has been demonstrated to cause some serious side-effects for women. It can also have some side-effects for men including loss of libido.

Minoxidil is approved as a hair loss treatments for men and women and is the only product so approved. The current wisdom is that it works because it improves the flow of blood to hair follicles which increases the flow of nutrients so that the hair follicle can absorb more nutrition. In cases of male pattern baldness the actual hair thinning is caused by a male hormone which restricts the flow of nutrients to the hair follicle so this would seem to make sense.

And whilst it is clear that minoxidil on its own works as a hair loss treatment one company has seen an opportunity to improve the results and has combined minoxidil with essential hair nutrients to maximize the chances that their hair follicles will absorb enough nutrients to start to regrow hair.

It seems that this approach is more effective than simply using minoxidil by itself.

So if you’re looking for baldness cures on the Internet remember to beware. Whilst there are many cures for baldness available only 2 have been approved by the FDA as a hair loss treatment for men. Minoxidil is the only product approved as a male pattern baldness cure and also as a hair loss treatment for women.

The Biggest Problem Of Millions Of American Men, How To Regain Hair Loss.

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

Millions of American men are losing their hair and worried about it. And millions of men would like to know if it is possible to regain hair loss. Lets consider the causes of thinning hair in men and see whether there is a successful hair loss cure.

There are a range of causes of baldness in men but one cause of men’s baldness is far more important than all others. Male pattern baldness, it is estimated, affects around 4 in 7 men.

Not all men who suffer from thinning hair have male pattern baldness. There are various medical conditions, dietary factors, medications and other causes of men’s baldness. But despite this if you have thinning hair the chances that the cause is male pattern baldness is high.

In the past it was well-known that baldness in men was inherited by the it was not known by which mechanism male pattern baldness actually operated. It was well-known in the past that men’s baldness was inherited but it was not known why the baldness actually occurred. While the mechanism was unknown it was not possible to produce a hair loss cure and therefore it was not possible to regain hair loss from male pattern baldness.

But the mechanism by which men who suffer from male pattern baldness actually lose their hair is now well-known. It relates to the operation of the male sex hormone testosterone and in particular to a specific male hormone derived from testosterone called DHT. It is known that men with male pattern baldness and thinning hair have high levels of DHT.

The mechanism is that the hormone called DHT gathers around the base of hair follicles and substantially reduces the ability to take in hair nutrients. Good hair health depends heavily on the ability of the hair to take in good levels of essential nutrition and if this does not happen their hair will thin and wither and die.

Science knows how this operates and once this mechanism was understood it was possible to find a good hair loss treatment and one treatment, the first male pattern baldness treatment approved by the FDA, works to improve the ability of the hair to take up nutrients by increasing the blood supply. It is now possible to regain hair loss. This product is named minoxidil and it increases the blood flow to the hair thereby restoring the ability of the hair follicle to take in nutrients. This allows their hair to absorb more nutrients and regain health.

Yet although minoxidil was a successful hair loss cure it is now known that using minoxidil on its own is not as effective as other approaches. Whilst minoxidil allows the hair follicle to take up nutrients it is also important to supply those nutrients. The new generation of successful hair loss treatments combines the use of minoxidil with a supply of essential hair nutrients as well.

Once the operation of DHT was understood was then possible to produce a product to regain hair loss. However even the best hair loss product will not grow hair on a bald head and if you’re noticing thinning hair it’s important to get onto the problem early.

The best hair loss treatment does work, if you use it early.

If you leave it too long your only option to regain hair loss as a result of male pattern baldness is surgery.

Is It Possible Use Biotin As A Hair Restoration Product?

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

Anyone researching hair loss will inevitably come across biotin. There is a clear link between biotin and loss of hair and also there is a suggestion that taking biotin supplements can work as a hair restoration treatment.

The major cause of hair loss in men is male pattern baldness. This is an inherited condition where the male sex hormone called DHT strangles the hair follicles gradually by limiting their ability to take in essential nutrients. And research shows that biotin is very important to hair health and so there may indeed be a hair loss biotin link.Let’s see.

Biotin is a vitamin. It is in fact a water-soluble B group vitamin called vitamin B 7.It is found in a variety of foods and is also manufactured in the body and has a role in the metabolism of fats, carbohydrates and proteins into energy in the cells and therefore has a role in cell growth. Anyone who has a biotin deficiency is at risk of losing hair and eyebrows. It has a role in hair health because it affects the metabolism of scalp oils in the scalp hair follicles.

So it seems logical that increasing the intake of biotin through biotin supplements may work as a baldness cure. But although it sounds good there is no clear scientific evidence that using biotin has a supplement works as a cure to male pattern baldness. However that does not mean that there is no role of biotin for hair growth.

There are recognized baldness treatments on the markets now. The best and most well-known is a product called minoxidil which is approved by the FDA. Minoxidil goes under a variety of product names however it is recognized as one of the best, if not the best, hair loss treatment on the market today.

Using minoxidil on its own can be effective for many men. However for most men minoxidil on its own is not a complete answer. To understand why you need to know a little more about why men lose their hair. The cause of the thinning hair in cases of male pattern baldness is the male sex hormone DHT which attaches to hair follicles on the scalp and slowly limits the ability of those follicles to absorb essential hair nutrients.

Minoxidil can improve the blood supply to the scalp and this allows the follicles to absorb more nutrition. The minoxidil will certainly improve blood flow and when it does this the hair follicles can absorb more nutrition. However if these are not available in sufficient quantities they cannot be absorbed. But there is excellent news that one product tackle this problem using a double-edged approach, providing minoxidil to improve the ability of the hair to take up nutrients and essential hair nutrients to become available to the hair follicles once they can absorb them.

There is now evidence that this approach produces the Best Hair Loss Treatment.

So whilst there is no clear evidence that using biotin for hair growth works successfully on its own, one excellent hair restoration product does use biotin as one of the active ingredients in its complete hair restoration system. It seems that combining biotin with hair nutrients and minoxidil is an effective hair restoration treatment and more effective than using minoxidil on its own.

Hopefully that’s told you a little more about using Biotin For Hair Loss..
