An Article About The History Of Dude Ranches And Why They Are Famous To Tourists

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

You may have heard of dude ranches, but do you know what these are and how they started? The dude ranch first became popular because of the writings of Teddy Roosevelt. In the 1920s, they really took off in the American imagination. Roosevelt had spent time as a rancher and had herded cattle. Americans wanted to check this out for themselves.

The cattle ranches in the American west decided to accommodate tourists from the east and overseas. Ever since, dude ranches have existed in the US. They are a uniquely American phenomenon, like baseball and apple pie.

In daily life we are bombarded with TV, the Internet, our cell phones. At a dude ranch, all of this is gladly turned off in favor of a quieter, more self-reliant and relaxing experience. You’ll enjoy living off the land in wide open spaces, far from the drone of the 21st century and its demands.

In some dude ranches, visitors are even allowed to help with the daily chores. It really gives a taste of what it is like to live on a ranch. The times have changed of course, and there are modern amenities to be found at these ranches.

You can almost always take horseback lessons at a dude ranch, and horseback riding is usually available at any skill level. Other activities vary from ranch to ranch, but common ones include fishing, hiking, square dancing, swimming, and campfires.

For the traveler with a sense of adventure and a desire to taste another way of living, dude ranches are a great idea. This is the same reason why visitors were drawn to these ranches in the early 20th century. It’s good clean fun.

You can even have some fantastic sky time. Here’s a modern draw of a dude ranch: it is usually far enough from the neon city lights that you can actually see the stars at night.

Many visitors also enjoy the lack of traffic and highway noise. You can hear birds and crickets instead of the drone of car engines. You can also look out over the vista and see land and nature instead of ugly construction and roads and businesses.

Tents Vs Caravans At A Festival, There Can Only Be One Winner

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

It was five years ago, on my yearly trip to Leeds Festival that I became a caravan lover. That year I didn’t have an early pass and was eager to find a place to camp before there was no space left when the strap on my main rucksack broke. I balanced it on my tent bag and trudged on through the, now fluid, mud. Subsequently this additional weight then broke the strap on my tent bag, leaving me stranded.

Fortunately some friends of mine were nearby in the caravan section and helped me carry my things to their caravan. What luxury! It was only a cheap caravan but when equated with my one-man tent in which I couldn’t lie down straight, even without my bag, it was brilliant. How jealous I was of their luxury caravan when I opened my bag to find half of my things broken and damaged by the fall in the mud.

The next year I was naturally in one of those dry, warm caravans and happily watched the other festivalgoers struggle with their bags. Evidently my luck hadn’t improved and the caravan flooded. Again my new Top Shop inspired festival wardrobe was destroyed along with most of other caravan.

Thankfully I’d thought to ensure contents were included on my caravan insurance. We didn’t have to worry about the damage to the caravan and I would even say we enjoyed living in the damp for three days. In the end, it is all part of the festival experience.

Now we have annual caravan holidays abroad, which are ideal for a low cost holiday with friends. I wouldn’t stop my caravan holidays for anything and definitely wouldn’t risk an uninsured driver hitting us and spoiling our tradition. Since the flood incident I always make sure we have the right insurance cover for whatever country we happen to go to, it’s so critical to have the right cover for European travel.

If you’ve a motor home then you have good taste, and really know how to have a good time. Enjoy your motor caravan and go on holiday. But don’t forget that holidays are meant to be stress free; with our less than reliable weather this isn’t forever the situation. Get the right cover for your vacation and have fun!

You will want to ensure that when you go to your festival of choice or off on your vacation that you have the correct caravan insurance to cover every possible scenario. Coversure are a trusted insurance broker with strong relationships with insurance providers. They will be able to secure you the best deal on your caravan insurance.

Buying Bras For Large Breasts Need Not Be Problematic

Sunday, July 25th, 2010

The bra is a very significant part of a woman’s life. The first time a girl starts to wear a bra, she begins to feel more like a woman. It becomes the starting point for the day, and is the base on which a female will build her look. The fit of a woman’s underwear really detemines how a garment will look, and sit, on a person. This is especially true for those with a larger physique. This is why it becomes so necessary to research thoroughly about the right kind of bras for large breasts.

Breasts come in many shapes and sizes, which can make it difficult to find a bra that fits correctly. Measurement should be taken for the breadth across the back and around the chest cavity, then across the nipple line. These dimensions will determine the size, which is depicted by a number, and then the cup size, which is allocated by a letter. Going by truthful sizes, it is possible to find a very comfortable fitting bra. A good fitting brassiere should not be felt once on, and there should be no discomfort at all.

Having a professionally measured fitting should be done many times in a woman’s lifetime. This is because bras sizes will inevitably change over time, from weight loss and gain, particularly due to pregnancy and breast-feeding. A bra that is too small will cause pain, and unsightly bulges in areas that no one wants to see. Conversely, one that is too big will offer no support of any kind and will be just as uncomfortable to wear. This is why it is vitally important to get your size correct before buying one.

When it comes to quality and durability, you get what you pay for. Yes, lingerie can be expensive, but it is usually worth the investment. A bra is something that is worn day in and day out, every single day of the year, so it needs to last and be comfortable. You don’t want to have to be shelling out for new ones every few weeks.

There is a very large selection of styles, sizes and shapes in the underwear market, especially for larger sizes. Fashion and appearance is important to a woman’s lifestyle and so the bra needs to promote confidence and beauty. Modern day designs include, but are not limited to, lace, clear straps and strapless, push-up supports, seamless, full cupped as well as shelf or semi cupped bras. There is a suitable style for all ages, shapes and sizes of woman.

Another decision to make when choosing bras, is whether or not to choose wireless or one with under wire. It all comes down to personal choice, and a bit of trial and error to see which is more comfortable for you. The fuller sizes may find no wire a little more comfortable, because they allow for a wider spread of breast tissue. Women with artificial implants should heed a specific warning to wired bras, as they could be problematic. It is advisable to speak to a medical professional about these issues.

When searching for bras for large breasts, consider the important features of support, capacity, size, style and cost. Support is the main reason for a bra, so this must be the first thing to at. Providing all these characteristics fall in to place, then ladies will surely find their favorite bra in no time.

Caravanning And Surfing, An Interesting Combination

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

There is nothing better than a glass of Scrumpy cider after a long day of surfing in Cornwall or Devon but there is nothing as bad as trying to get warm and dry in an already damp tent. This is one of the reasons why I no longer camp on my annual pilgrimage to the beach. This summer many hundreds of surfing amateurs and pros alike will be headed for British and European seas, and more of them than ever are going by caravan.

Caravans are by far the best choice for a surfing holiday; there’s numerous space for wet suits, towels and surfboards. I don’t have mine board but it’s much less expensive to lease one for the seven days in preference to on a daily basis. It is not just less expensive but you have the opportunity to really get the feel of the board. Hiring a board for the seven days is pretty challenging without a caravan; even a short board would be hard to squeeze in a tent. This is one of the reasons why I feel like a pro every year, despite sitting on my board in the green waves and looking for seals for the majority of of the day.

The problem with caravans is the insurance. People often forget to ascertain if their insurance can give them the cover they require. If travelling to Europe then you need to ensure you have the right European caravan insurance or else you maybe left less mellow than the normal surfer when something goes wrong! Don’t let some uninsured driver get you to miss the surf this year, get caravan insurance!

Surfing all day means leaving the caravan unattended. Any true surfing lover will realize that the early surf is the best. On balance who would like to share the waves with the foam board tourists? That’s why you ought to make sure that your caravan insurance protects your contents. Especially if you’ve any second planks left in it! A good specialist caravan insurance broker will be in a position to talk you through exactly what your policy includes.

Surfers are intended to be worry free so let someone different do the worrying! Don’t leave anything to chance this summer and get the proper insurance for your caravan. Don’t forget that mileage, overseas travel and what you want to safeguard can all impact your cover so speak to a dealer that can find the right policy for you. Enjoy the surf!

It’s sometimes hard to get caravan insurance to cover exactly what you need it to. The best way to ensure that you don’t get swindled by your insurers is to use a broker that has good relationships with insurance brokers and who know their field inside out. The Most Fun Neighborhoods To Go Shopping In Manhattan

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

New York City has some pretty amazing shopping for both men and women. While it is most definitely an expensive activity, shopping in New York is great because you get to see the sights while ducking in to your favorite stores.

Here are some of the best areas to check out while shopping in New York.

When it comes to finding good deals at small stores that may carry some cool, but rare stuff, I go down to the Lower East Side. By Robert James on Orchard Street between Broome and Delancey is an upcoming designer with some quality stuff. I also love checking out a store called The Reformation, where they make all their clothes in house.

The undisputed king (or queen) of New York City shopping can be found in SoHo. Located South of Houston St (hence the name), SoHo is a shopping mecca. Any high-end brand has a store in SoHo. It’s no coincidence the girls down here are incredibly fashionable.

Another fun area to check out for shopping is the East Village. Some of the best stores to check out around this part of town include Urban Outfitters, Odin and Pinky Otto.

Of course, an extremely popular area to shop is 5th Avenue and the Upper East Side in general. Be careful though, because everything uptown just ends up costing more money. Bloomingdale’s on 57th has sales a few times a year, so go while your favorite brands are sold on sale.

If you are looking for a little bit of a culture shock, head down to Chinatown. You are still in New York City, but you would never know it. While the retail shopping is not the greatest down here, there is plenty of wholesale shopping to be had, as well as interesting art galleries to check out.

Woodbury Commons is an outlet mall outside of the city that is impossible to beat when it comes to high-end brands at extremely discounted prices. Make a weekend of it and find the great deals that await.

Learning About Trail Running And The Special Kinds Of Footwear Used For It

Sunday, July 18th, 2010

Trail running is becoming increasingly popular in the US. A trail runner runs a path that goes through rough terrain, mountains, hills, even forests. These paths are generally not accessible by road except at the trailheads.

Generally, races through these trails go between 10 and 50 km. You can have participants who are going up and down thousands of feet of grade. In the mountain areas of the western US, as well as in California, there are many avid trail runners.

There are special shoes that are used for trail running. These are more protective and rigid than most running shoes, and have stiffer soles. Some manufacturers that make great trail running shoes include North Face, Salomon, Vasque and Nike.

Trail shoes grip on ice, and help to stabilize the feet while running on difficult terrain. They also help to keep the feet dry if the trail is wet. It is important to have stability and good purchase because terrain can get very slick if weather is challenging.

The purpose of trail running shoes is the same as for all running shoes – to provide biomechanical protection from injuries. Trail running shoes target the most likely injury for trail runners, acute ankle sprain, by providing an emphasis on stability. The trail shoes are also tested on different surfaces, including single-track, fire roads, jagged technical trails, gravel paths, and pavement.

The average running shoe has a lifespan of between 350 and 500 miles, according to industry standards. This varies by model of course. If a runner puts 20 miles on a pair of shoes each week, that runner can expect to need to replace the shoes in 16 to 25 weeks, or else 4 to 6 months.

That is not the only factor though. Other factors that can affect how long your shoes last are your weight, your running style and foot strike, and the surfaces you run on. There’s more wear and tear in trail running. If you get trail shoes, they’re meant to hold up to this and it will make a difference.

All trail runners should invest in the proper shoes. This will keep you safer from common injuries, and will also mean you are having to replace your shoes less often than if you try to run on trails with regular running shoes.
