Dabbling In Denim
Monday, July 12th, 2010It goes without saying that being comfortable in your jeans is the most important thing for a man; after all, even the best-looking pair of stonewashed jeans will look a little off putting if you’re uncomfortable in them. Nevertheless, you should always keep in mind when and where you’ll wear your jeans. This will make the process of buying them a much simpler task.
If, for example, you only wear suits to work, your jeans might be kept entirely for going out or for lounging around in the pad, which means you have few restrictions when choosing a wash and fit. But, if your work environment does allow jeans, denim could be part of your everyday style. In that case, you might want to consider more moderate styles, as even in the most casual workplaces, subtlety definitely goes a long way. Either way, always make sure your jeans look good with sneakers and boots. Luckily most jeans go well with most footwear.

- what the hell does it al mean?? If you don’t know, well you’re not alone. Instead of working with a common denim vocabulary, most retailers release models using their own jargon, resulting in an infinite amount of names to describe, essentially, identical fits. If you’re overwhelmed, just ask a sales associate for the fit you’re after — it’s their job to show you.
Some good choices are straight legs or boot cuts. When paired with some classic washes, you’ll be set. Classic jean fits will give you the most bang for your denim buck because they can serve a variety of different purposes. You should stay clear, however, of tapered leg openings or a wide bell-bottomed look.
When you initially wash your new jeans, wash them by themselves. The second time you wash them, it’s a good idea to wash them inside out, as this is the best possible way to maintain their color and overall appearance. Always lay your jeans on a towel to dry or, if possible, hang them with clothespins so that no part of the denim is folded or creased.
