Halloween Costume Ideas

The annual Halloween costume frenzy starts at the beginning of October when avid Halloween lovers are on the search for that unique costume. Everyone wants something that no one else is wearing or has that special wow factor. Some are skilled enough to make their own costumes. Others search the stores or the internet for something spectacular. Often, the kids themes revolve around the popular movie that year or a favorite show they watch. The simple costumes are easy to find anywhere but the better ones require some research. The fun is all in getting to be someone else for a day, something we rarely get to do.

Some costume themes have been around for so long and will probably never go out of style. No year goes by that people don’t dress up as a ghost, a witch, a devil or a vampire, as these themes are directly associated with the spooky Halloween theme. Then you have all the usual sports costumes, costumes of famous people, and some themes that have stayed popular for decades, like Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny or Sesame Street Characters.

A popular theme for women looking for a sexy costume is the Playboy Bunny costume. Even though it doesn’t revolve around a famous person or a recent movie, it has been a favorite for over 50 years. For women who have the confidence to wear the costume, it is a show stopping, head turning costume. It gives women a chance to wear a sexy outfit for the day where ever they want to go without worrying whether or not she is appropriately dressed.

The costume was inspired by the actual uniform that was worn by Playboy Bunnies who worked in the Playboy Club. They served cocktails to the club customers in their own unique bunny style. There was rigorous training involved in becoming a Playboy Bunny. There were different types of bunnies working in the club: the Floor Bunny, the Playmate Bunny, the Door Bunny, the Cigarette Bunny and Jet Bunnies. They had to walk, bend down, a serve in a certain, sexy Playboy bunny style. The outfit they wore was the very first work uniform to be patented in the United States. The costume consisted of a corset-like bodice, fishnet stockings, a bunny tail and ears, and high heels. The Playboy Club was created by Hugh Hefner, the creator and owner of Playboy Magazine, an internationally recognized brand catering to men. It was the first magazine of its kind to display a sexy centerfold woman in the nude. It’s logo was a tuxedo wearing bunny and this was the inspiration for the Playboy Bunny outfit, which carried out the tuxedo and bunny theme.

While the Playboy Bunny costume has evolved over the years to reflect changes in fashion, the general theme remains the same. Playboy distributes licensed Playboy costumes, but there are many manufacturers who copy the outfit and have created spin-offs of the costume’s design. Official costume websites will let you know you are buying the real thing. Beware of imitations.
